The developer community around the Nokia n800 series internet tablets are hot on the trail of porting Ubuntu to the little devices. It’s just another brick in a growing wall of support for these things.
The more I look into and read about these Nokia devices the more I like them. In contrast to the iTouch, these things are truly extensible. Just look at the number of free apps that are rolling out of the Maemo developer platform. More importantly for me, there’s a huge community of people putting together demonstrations and developing instructional tools for all levels of users.
Compare that to the iTouch and there’s no contest.
Don’t get me wrong, I love the iTouch, it’s freaking addictive. But from a production and practicality standpoint, the Nokia has to be winning right now. Hands down
